The clutter in life, much like the pile-up of things in my room, makes my mind feel chaotic. When my surroundings become messy, the stress within me increases as well. Working late every day, my home has become just a place to shower and sleep, leaving me in a constant state of unease.
Many people have probably experienced how physical clutter translates into mental stress. When you lose control of your environment, it feels as though life is crushing you under a giant wave. I began to ask myself: how can I regain control of my life and simplify everything?
In the past, I was solely focused on chasing targets, without ever considering what I truly needed inside. Coming home to a messy room only added to my frustration. Anyone who knows me knows that I value efficiency and care about results, so living in this state became unbearable.
Kondō Marie’s Method Didn’t Work for Me
When I first encountered Marie Kondō’s tidying method, I thought it would solve my problems. I tried it, but I quickly realised it wasn’t right for me. Folding clothes and trying to feel that ‘spark of joy’ felt more like a hassle than help. Every time I picked something up to see if it sparked joy, I ended up feeling lost and wasting time. Frankly, this approach wasn’t working.
While many people find her method effective, I found it too fussy and far from my style. I needed an approach that matched the pace of my life.
Fumio Sasaki’s Minimalist Strategy: My Turning Point
After trying various methods, I came across Fumio Sasaki’s approach to minimalism. His minimalist style is much more practical, especially for someone like me who values logic. His method involves setting small daily goals and gradually reducing unnecessary items, which makes the process feel manageable and stress-free.
Following his steps, I began by clearing out rubbish, and then slowly tackled unnecessary duplicates. For instance, when I noticed I had several pairs of scissors, I kept only the one I truly needed. These simple actions brought a sense of relief and marked the true start of my minimalist journey.
As I continued to declutter, I began to understand the true meaning of letting go, allowing me to focus more on what truly matters in life.
Minimalism Helped Me Regain Life’s Rhythm
Since embracing minimalism, my life has become more organised. Reducing the amount of stuff I own has lifted unnecessary stress, and my mind feels clearer. With fewer distractions, I can focus better and creativity comes more easily.
Each time I declutter, it gives me a chance to reassess my life goals. Minimalism has not only simplified my life but also brought a new mindset. I’ve regained control of my life and realised that life can be so much lighter and more liberating.
